The vision of the George Floyd Memorial Center came about following the tragic death of George Perry Floyd, Jr. George, the third child of George Perry, Sr. and Larcenia “Cissy” Floyd was born in Fayetteville, NC. His family members who still reside in the state created this foundation and memorial to honor the legacy of a man and relative who loved life and loved to give back.
The untimely death of George has caused a global uprising, calling for equality and justice for all. The rally cries of “Say His/Her Name”, “Black Lives Matter”, and “No Justice, No Peace” can be heard in every corner of the earth. Dr. Martin Luther King’s quote “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” stands true as much today as it did in the past.

George Floyd Memorial Center
The George Floyd Memorial Center will be a multicultural center located in Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina. The Center will house the Museum of Urbanistic Art, featuring permanent and temporary art displays. Art showings, art auctions, and youth art classes will highlight many of the features of this part of the Center.
Other programs that will originate in within the wall of the center includes:
- Youth Leadership Academy
- Wellness Center
- Music Academy
- eLearning Center
The George Floyd Memorial Center will also serve as a Community Center. The planned construction will include multidimensional event spaces, classrooms, meeting/conference rooms, and a full-service food prep and serving area.
Located in the heart of North Carolina, The George Floyd Memorial Center will serve as the Flagship for Change by honoring George and showing the way towards peace and unity in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
